Here at Bray Dental, we offer periodontal treatment, an area concerned with the maintenance and treatment of gums. Gum disease is becoming increasingly common and is the number one cause of tooth loss, more so than tooth decay. Its causes include smoking and poor oral health, amongst others. Our dental experts will be able to identify symptoms of gum disease and recommend suitable periodontal treatment. Procedures range from uncomplicated, complex and advanced periodontal treatment according to the severity of your teeth.
What is gum disease?
Gum disease is a bacterial infection that affects the gums and bone which support your teeth. Plaque, caused when a good level of oral hygiene is not maintained, if left untreated, can result in gingivitis and other forms of gum disease. It is therefore important to have regular check-ups. In the worst-case scenario, gum disease can result in having numerous teeth permanently removed and the need for cosmetic treatment to improve the aesthetics of your smile.
We always recommend maintaining a good oral hygiene routine, consisting of brushing, flossing and using mouthwash twice a day to fight against bacteria and plaque.
